Mission Statement: Bringing God’s Love and restoring Hope for the Less Privileged.

Vision: Enhancing Sustainable Community-Based Solutions for All

Core Program Areas:

#  Village (Rural Community) Water Supply           #  Humanitarian Services #  Agriculture and Skills Development
#  Sustainable Rural Health Interventions           #  Peace Building

Apart from accompanying local initiatives towards sustainable development and with a vision to achieving the sustainable development goals by 2030, Caritas Kumbo has since 2004 and with assistance from the Diocese of Limburg, Misereor and local communities within the Diocese of Kumbo led development initiatives that ended up with the realisation of now 67 gravity water supply schemes to 67 rural communities in Bui and Donga Mantung Divisions. With a staff size of 36, and 34 field volunteers (one per Parish) Caritas has leveraged its strong field presence in responding to the various social needs some of which constitute a real challenge to the especially rural and most vulnerable communities.

Caritas Kumbo is dedicated to working with rural communities whose galvanised participation from start to end of projects and programs do not only increase a good sense of fulfilment among beneficiary community members but also impacts positively on long term project ownership. By focusing on the most rural communities whose populations are usually dominated by purely disadvantaged and vulnerable persons like children, women including persons with disabilities, Caritas Kumbo’s cross cutting interventions are designed to respond adequately to such needs as would enhance human dignity through good health hence equipping the rural populations in the on-going fight against poverty. It is in light of the above, that goal 6 of the Sustainable Development Goals ‘Ensure the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all by 2030’ is at the center of Caritas Kumbo WASH interventions.
