In the face of an emergency situation like the ongoing crisis in North West and South West Regions, one of the most affected vulnerable group of persons is the children who cannot defend or fight for themselves. The rate of abuse of child’s rights violations and child abuse escalates during such crisis. Bearing to this, Caritas Kumbo in partnership with UNICEF has embarked in the strengthening of Community Based Child Protection Mechanisms, Mental Health and Psychosocial support to conflict and Covid-19 affected children, GBV risk mitigation and other related issues surrounding child protection. This is achieved through setting up, equipping and running of Child Friendly Spaces (CFS) in four communities, Tobin, Noi-Visombo, Buh and Ndu. The child friendly spaces are currently running in these four communities.

Activities carried out under child protection project:

• Mental Health and Psychosocial support to children.
• Training and strengthening of Community Based Child Protection Mechanism Members.
• Training of foster families for alternative care services to unaccompanied and separated children.
• Training of Community Focal Point persons to identify, handle or refer GBV cases.
• Identification, tracing and re-unification of Unaccompanied and separated children.
